Treatment Risks & Safety Information

Last updated: July 2026

All medical aesthetic treatments carry risk. At Angelic Cosmetic Clinic, we believe you deserve honest, complete information about the potential risks and side effects of any treatment before you decide whether to proceed. This page provides general risk information for the treatments we offer. It is educational only and is not a substitute for a personal medical consultation, where your individual suitability and risk profile will be assessed.

Our Commitment to Safe Practice

  • All treatments are performed by AHPRA-registered health practitioners
  • Prescription-only treatments are provided following consultation with an authorised prescriber
  • Every treatment begins with a thorough medical consultation and written informed consent
  • You are never pressured to proceed on the day of your consultation, and you may withdraw consent at any time
  • We adhere to TGA advertising regulations and AHPRA guidelines for cosmetic procedures
  • Our clinic provides 24/7 aftercare support following treatment

Risks Common to All Injectable Treatments

The following side effects and risks apply to all injectable treatments offered at our clinic:

  • Bruising, swelling, redness or tenderness at the injection sites
  • Small bumps or firmness at the injection sites, usually temporary
  • Headache or mild flu-like symptoms in the days following treatment
  • Asymmetry or an uneven result that may require adjustment
  • Infection at the injection site (uncommon)
  • Allergic reaction, ranging from mild irritation to, very rarely, a serious reaction requiring urgent medical care
  • An outcome that differs from what you had hoped for. Individual results vary and are not guaranteed

Prescription Wrinkle Reducing Treatments

These treatments temporarily relax targeted facial muscles. In addition to the general risks above, specific risks include:

  • Drooping of the eyelid or brow (ptosis), usually temporary but lasting weeks to months
  • A heavy sensation in the forehead or brow
  • Unintended weakness of nearby muscles, which may affect facial expression
  • Temporary difficulty with certain expressions, such as an uneven smile
  • Results wear off over approximately 3 to 4 months and repeated treatment is required to maintain effect

For masseter (jaw) treatment, including treatment for bruxism, additional risks include temporary chewing fatigue, changes to smile symmetry, and altered facial appearance as the muscle reduces over repeated treatments.

Volume Replacement Treatments

Hyaluronic acid based treatments used to restore volume and contour. In addition to the general risks above, specific risks include:

  • Lumps, nodules or irregularities that may be felt or visible
  • Migration of product away from the treated area
  • A bluish tint under thin skin (Tyndall effect)
  • Delayed inflammatory reactions or granulomas, which can occur weeks, months or years after treatment
  • Vascular occlusion: a rare but serious complication where product blocks a blood vessel. This can cause skin damage and tissue loss, and in extremely rare cases has been associated with vision loss. Our practitioners are trained in the recognition and emergency management of vascular complications, and dissolving medication is kept on site

Volume Dissolving Treatments

An enzyme-based treatment used to break down previously placed hyaluronic acid. Specific risks include:

  • Allergic reaction to the dissolving enzyme, including, rarely, a severe reaction (anaphylaxis). A patch test may be recommended before treatment
  • Dissolving of your natural hyaluronic acid in the treated area, which can cause a temporary deflated appearance
  • More than one session may be required for complete dissolving
  • Uneven or partial dissolving requiring further correction

Skin Boosters & Bio-Remodelling

Injectable skin hydration and remodelling treatments. Specific risks include:

  • Visible bumps at the injection points, typically settling within 24 to 72 hours
  • Temporary unevenness in skin texture while the product integrates
  • Multiple sessions are usually required and results develop gradually

Bio-Stimulator Treatments

Collagen-stimulating injectable treatments. Specific risks include:

  • Nodules or granulomas, which may appear months after treatment and can be difficult to reverse
  • Uneven collagen response leading to asymmetry
  • Results develop over weeks to months and depend on your body's individual collagen response, which cannot be predicted with certainty

Polynucleotide (Rejuran) Treatments

Regenerative skin treatments derived from purified polynucleotides. Specific risks include:

  • Small raised bumps at the injection sites, typically resolving within 24 to 72 hours
  • Not suitable for people with certain allergies. Suitability is assessed at consultation
  • A course of multiple sessions is usually required

Thread Lift Treatments

Non-surgical lifting using absorbable threads. This is a more invasive procedure than injectable treatments and carries additional risks:

  • Dimpling, puckering or visible irregularity of the skin, usually temporary
  • A sensation of tightness or pulling, typically settling over days to weeks
  • Thread migration, or in rare cases a thread becoming visible or extruding through the skin, which may require removal
  • Asymmetry between sides
  • Infection along the thread path (uncommon)
  • Temporary nerve irritation causing altered sensation
  • Results are more subtle than surgical alternatives and are temporary as the threads absorb

PRP & PRF Treatments

Regenerative treatments using your own blood-derived platelets. Specific risks include:

  • Bruising or discomfort at both the blood draw site and the treatment area
  • Swelling, particularly with under-eye treatment, lasting several days
  • Not suitable for people with certain blood disorders or those taking certain medications. Suitability is assessed at consultation
  • Results depend on your individual biology and cannot be predicted or guaranteed

Facial Treatments & Microneedling

Specific risks include:

  • Redness, dryness, flaking or sensitivity for several days after treatment
  • Post-inflammatory pigmentation, particularly in deeper skin tones or with sun exposure after treatment
  • Reactivation of cold sores in people with a history of them. Preventative medication may be recommended
  • Infection if aftercare instructions are not followed (uncommon)

Making an Informed Decision

The risks listed on this page are general in nature. Your individual risks depend on your medical history, anatomy, medications and lifestyle, and will be discussed with you in detail at your consultation. You can read more about how we obtain informed consent on our consent information page.

Take the time you need to make your decision. There is no obligation to proceed on the day of your consultation, and choosing not to have treatment is always a valid option.
